Pro Cheer League Season Two: What we know and what to expect

After launching its inaugural season in January 2026, the Pro Cheer League (PCL) has announced its plans for season two. The league will expand with two new teams, five additional match locations, and what appears to be a new match format.

Kentucky Crush and Houston Hustle have entered the PCL for season two. Atlanta Air's roster may be among the most affected by the addition of Kentucky Crush. With over 20% of Atlanta Air’s roster being from the Northeast last season, those athletes now have a closer option. The addition of two new teams creates up to 60 new roster spots. Kentucky’s location could draw in athletes from the Midwest that were seeking a more convenient commute. This could bring in talent from University of Minnesota, Purdue University, and Ohio State University as these are highly decorated UCA D1A teams from the Midwest. With Houston and Dallas only being three hours from each other though, it’s more likely to see team loyalty rather than convenience-based movement.

The new match locations will be: Louisville, KY, Las Vegas, NV, Fort Worth, TX, Washington, D.C., Columbus, OH, and Garland, TX. PCL kept matches in Houston, TX, Indianapolis, IN, and two matches in Atlanta, GA. With these new locations, we see that Atlanta Air and Houston Hustle are the only two teams with home matches this season. Fans, along with a current PCL athlete, voiced disappointment in the comments of the PCL's official Instagram post after no Florida matches were announced for the season two schedule.

In the 2026-2027 season two announcement post, a change in match format was quick to spot. In season one of PCL, all four teams would meet and compete against each other earning points based on their performance, then being ranked first through fourth place. Now in the match location announcements, only two teams are announced to go head to head for each match. One possible explanation for the format change is the addition of two new teams making it not suitable for TV to have six teams go head to head. The announcement also raises questions about how this will affect the championship, how they could already predetermine all of the match-ups, and how this will affect the match format itself.

As we come up on tryouts for PCL season two, keep your eye out for new and changing rosters, attendance trends in new match locations, and a new match format.
